The Kellogg Biological Station (KBS) LTAR site in Hickory Corners, Michigan hosted the 2024 LTAR Leadership & Data Management Meeting on October 15-18, 2024. The Leadership Team re-evaluated the objectives and metrics of success for Initiative 4: Building LTAR Network Capacity of the LTAR Strategic Plan. The panel discussions with the USDA National Program Leaders and partnering network stakeholders both echoed that success stories from stakeholders are just as important as the bean counting of outputs like number of publications, workshops, tools, etc.

The Research Data Advisory Team (RDAT) and a representative from Tyler Technologies introduced Socrata – the new data information system for the network – to data managers and the Leadership Team. Data managers were highly engaged in the hands-on training sessions.

The highlight of the meeting was the field tour of the KBS LTAR site’s common experiment. We heard stories directly from their partnering farmers, university researchers, extension specialists, and farm advisors who are using this LTAR site as a breeding ground for research, extension, and education.

Thank you to the KBS scientists and staff for hosting an excellent meeting!
